| Why don't we know more about what happens to foster children? I know that there are privacy issues when dealing with minors, but I still wonder why their plight is not examined in more detail and more frequently. I can only imagine what many of them go through. I read a story in the paper about a child who had severe attachment issues who had been moved from foster home to foster home. If attachment is a basic human need, without which the child will effectively be a socio/psychopath (and probably a criminal), then why the shuffling? I asked someone I knew who was a foster parent why that happens. He said that different foster parents have different areas of specialization. Maybe focusing on this to the exclusion of the child's need to attach to one person is a mistake. I think the attachment issue needs to be studied in greater detail by the foster care system. |
