| The Declaration is ... Proper title: The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America (thanks MRG!!). The Declaration of Independence This document, in my opinion, was a TERMINATION FOR CAUSE between the (commercial) colonists and the King. It was the severing of a contract between those (commercial) colonists and the King. If you note, the unanimous Declaration ... lists the causes (reasons) for the termination. It was an extraordinary remedy. Also note from the document that it states they attempted multiple times to obtain redress for grievances. Perhaps more should be studied on the fine art of petitioning for redress. Also note, the document ends with a jurat, a pledge of securities, and is signed  .
